This is a break down of our Top 5 Family Activities in Portland. I get a lot of requests for top restaurants, cafes and activities so I’ll definitely do a breakdown of those this year, but if you’re trying to figure out what the heck to do in P-town with the kids in tow, this is the list you want to reference!
1. Book a family stay at The Heathman Hotel
This is by far our FAVORITE spot for a family stay-cation in Portland! We recommend friends and family to stay here when they come through town, because of the great location, fabulous food and remarkable service. Right next door to the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall and walking distance to parks and Pioneer Square Mall, the Heathman Hotel can offer the full Portland experience without having to get behind the wheel of your car!
2. Check out the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry. We are annual members, but this stunning facility offers hands-on science labs where the kids can try out their own experiments, learn about architecture, velocity and more. It’s loads of fun and there’s even a play area for kids 8 and under where they can do water play or kick around in the sand box.
3: Stop by Powell’s Books for an evening of treasure hunting (you can snag used books at a steal) or reading in the kids section. This is a great spot to pick up souvenirs as well!
4: Head to Petite Provence for a family friendly brunch and enjoy their wide selection of freshly baked french pastries. Our favorite are the french macaroons, but the girls LOVE nearly everything here.
5. Rent a scooter. I am SO happy that Portland now offers scooter rentals like BIRD scooters this year. This is an inexpensive way to see more of the city and enjoy the fresh air without having to pound the pavement. The kids love it too!
Let me know what you think about my Top 5 Things to Do in Portland for Families! And let me know what you LOVE to do when visiting the city. Or if you’re from here, dish on your favorite spots and activities!
xoxo
PS Here’s some more images of our recent stay at the Heathman Hotel, where we were able to celebrate Elsie’s 6th birthday in style! Be sure to inquire ahead of time about the family suite and get your kiddos set up with some cool tipi-beds and room swag!
